Alaskan Trip Journal

Date: Thursday, July 10, 2003

Starting Location: Calgary, AB

Destination: Valleyview, AB

Trip Description: Today we headed north from Calgary, through Edmonton, to Valleyview. We decided to skip a stop at the Calgary Stampede, although it looks like an event worth attending. We are making good progress toward Alaska. Tomorrow, we should reach the start of the Alaska Highway at Dawson Creek, BC. More information about our route north on the Alaska Highway can be found in The Milepost. A link to the online version is below. Cell phone reception is becoming more sporadic as we head north. There are fewer people, and more trees. We plan to use internet access at campgrounds to stay in touch. Many campgrounds have a place where you can plug in your laptop and use a dial-up ISP like America Online.
