Starting Location: Chestnut Ridge Park and Campground (Hubbard, OH)

Destination: Oak Park, IL

Trip Description: After a relaxing night's sleep at the campground, we made a mid-morning start. It was going to be a hot day on the road. We drove through Ohio on the turnpike. It seemed like Ohio would never end. We made a few stops to stretch and get gas. The RV gets a whopping 8 miles to the gallon! The Indiana Toll Road was boring as well. Nothing much to report other than it was HOT! There was an increasing volume of traffic as we got closer to Chicago. We eventually slowed to a snail's pace at the Ryan Expressway Junction. We arrived at Frances and Larry's condominimum in Oak Park around 7:00 PM. The highlight of the day was dinner at Klas' Restaurant in Cicero. Al Capone put up the money to start the business. He was a "regular" at the restaurant. There's a room upstairs where he and his associates played cards. The cuisine is Bohemian. I ordered the Sausage Lover's Special. The meal was very filling and tasty. Laura ordered Roast Beef with Potato Pancakes. Both of us got Split Pea soup. We enjoyed our experience there. Thanks to Frances and Larry for being our hosts! It's now almost 11:00 Central Time. Our internal clock is still 1 hour ahead. Laura is sneezing due to her allergies. It's time to get some sleep.
